Staggeringly, 45,000 babies require the assistance of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery each year in Australia. Some 25,000 of these babies are born prematurely. The Miracle Babies Foundation is Australia’s leading foundation supporting premature newborns, sick babies, their families and the health network that cares for them.

Since founding Miracle Babies in 2005, Melinda Cruz has supported thousands of families navigate the difficulties of the birth of sick and premature babies. She is a trusted expert to medical professionals, a Board member, author, entrepreneur and a multi-award winning professional. Above all, Melinda is a proud NICU mum to three beautiful boys.

Later this month, Melinda heads off on her Miracle Babies fundraiser – running the New York Marathon. You can support Melinda’s fundraising efforts here and follow her on Twitter here.

If you would like to know a little more about new research on the correlation of pre-pregnancy diets and premature births you can watch Melinda’s recent interview with Channel 9 Mornings here. Go hard, Melinda – I know you’re going to make us all even prouder!

And now to an incubator of another kind: congratulations to Cathie Reid and Catriona Wallace on your continued effort to forward women entrepreneurship in Australia via ‘The Amazon’. The Amazon, planned for launch early February 2015, will be Australia’s only women-only co-working space and incubator. We could not ask for two more successful women businesswomen to lead and support Australian entrepreneurship. Cathie is the Founder of Epic Pharmacy and Catriona is Founder of Fifth Quadrant and Flamingo. Read more about ‘The Amazon’ and Flamingo’s US expansion via The Age.

Well done to one of my favourite ethical and organic food brands, Republica Coffee on the launch of their Republic Raw Superfoods range at Woolworths and online! I really love this brand and the new products they have added. Wepa! (hopefully my Spanish translator has served me well)

If you have a small Australian business, MYOB is giving you the chance to shine with their #spruik campaign. Take a photo with a handwritten message, upload it to and your business could win one of four $25,000 packages or one of 25 $1,000 business grants from MYOB. How easy is that? Go forward and #spruik your business, your passion, your product or service!
